Industrial automobile producer Volta Vans has raised €230 million ($257 million) in Collection C funding. The money will likely be used to finish a fleet of design verification prototypes and a fleet of product verification automobiles for buyer analysis in London and Paris in mid-2022, in addition to the continued growth of the Volta Zero mannequin line and the preparation of a manufacturing unit to start manufacturing in Steyr, Austria by the tip of 2022.

The Volta Zero mannequin line started with a prototype launched in September of 2020. The corporate says the truck is “the world’s first purpose-built full-electric 16-ton automobile designed for city logistics.” It has a spread of 95-125 miles. The mannequin line additionally consists of 7.5- and 12-ton variations, and an 18-ton model is within the works.

Volta hopes to provide 5,000 automobiles in 2023, 14,000 in 2024, and 27,000 in 2025. The corporate says it has obtained orders totaling 5,000 automobiles and €1.2 billion ($1.3 billion US), together with an order for 1,470 automobiles from European transport firm DB Schenker, and one for 1,000 from refrigerated automobile supplier Petit Forestier.
